Dubbed as the White Island, Ibiza is the most gorgeous of the four Balearic Islands. With stellar cove beaches surrounded by high towering cliffs and verdant pine trees, the island is picture perfect for a great holiday. Scattered throughout this tropical island of paradise, there are many popular destinations filled with adventure and discovery. With plenty of budget airlines flying out everyday holidays to the white isle Ibiza has never been such great value. Taking a break from their usual clubbing guides, our friends at TravelTrout.co.uk have written us a more laid back guide to Ibiza.
Puerto de San Miguel
The port is on the northern coast of Ibiza and set with beautiful surrounding countryside. It is also away from the hustle and bustle of the major resorts and a haven of tranquility. The beach is protected by steep cliffs and offers calm waters for safe swimming. The Puerto de San Miguel beach is equipped with sunbeds, parasols and offers watersport rentals, including banana boats, sail boats, windsurfing and waterskiing. The streets in the quaint town of Puerto San Miguel are lined with restaurants, bars and trendy souvenir shops.
The nearby famous Can Marca Caves offer breathtaking views of stalagmites that mysteriously form rocket stations, temples and figures. According to legend, this is the area that infamous smugglers used to hide and transport their stash. There is also a daily spectacular light and music show with a 30-foot cascade of shimmering water that frames the steep entrance.
Ibiza Town is picturesque with tree-lined plazas, romantic restaurants and traditional Spanish architecture. It is also a popular jaunt for the jet set. At the waterfront restaurants, you can take in the panoramic blue-sea views and the impressive mega yachts. The town is loaded with history, and the Formentera Museum is a great way to learn about the earliest Phoenician settler and the Romans. The Dalt Vila is an old fortress area with an array of gothic structures and 16th century churches. The narrowly-lined streets are a pleasant walk leading to many boutiques and shops. At night, the party life pumps at many of the nightclubs, and the famed Pacha is the place to be for a party that doesn’t stop until early dawn.
Playa den Bossa, Talamanca and San Antonio
Playa den Bossa, Talamanca and San Antonio offer stunning beaches and are ideal for late holidays. Tourists can easily book last-minute flights to any of these destinations. Playa den Bossa is well-known for its party vibe. Clubbers can enjoy all-nighters at the world-famous super club Space and the celebrated beach club Bora Bora. With no towering hotels in sight, Talamanca is a great retreat for leisurely swims. Visitors can stroll the promenade for a great view of the magnificent Marina Botafoch or take a small ferry over to Santa Eulalia. San Antonio is charming with its many bars and cafes that line the central square with decorative parasols. Also known for its vibrant nightlife, the famous Es Paradis, Clubs Eden and Sunset Cafes are the cool bars to chill in.
